Cleanser is one of my absolute favorite skincare products to
buy and apply for two reasons:
1 – The feeling of a fresh, clean, and make-up free face is hard to beat morning
or night
2 – Finding a truly great cleanser is a real beauty challenge,
and I love a beauty challenge
A great cleanser should leave your skin feeling soft, springy, and sparkling clean. If you don’t use a separate facial makeup remover you should also be able to cleanse twice and not have your skin feel angry and over processed. Your skin should feel completely clean and free of makeup-y dirt and debris but never tight, dry or in desperate need of moisture. You know you’re on to a goodie when you don’t feel compelled to slap your moisturizer on within seconds of cleansing.
I have used plenty of great cleansers in the past that do a
great job of washing and nourishing but
often at the expense of the cleanser being a bit boring. I’m not talking about
cleanser having to be glitzy or excessively scented or overwhelmed with OTT
claims and promises, just something a little more fun to start and finish the
day with that makes your skin look and feel really good. My search has been
satiated for the time being with an effervescent new cleanser offering from Origins
(available in NZ from Mecca Cosmetica). The aptly named “GinZing” is bright and
beautiful in her day-glow orange tube. This cleanser is style with substance -
the clear gel-y consistency has tiny, cushiony beads suspended in the formula
to very lightly scrub and pep up dull, tired skin and an uplifting all-natural
grapefruit and lemon scent to match. Don’t be perturbed by the word “scrub” in
the product name, these beads are so soft and gentle you are really only
getting a feather light whisper of exfoliation, making it fine for use once or
twice day. My skin feels fresh, soft, perked up and plump after a wash with
this, and, importantly, looks more invigorated and radiant. My skin is normal
to dry but I do think even an oily skin type would benefit from the light foaming
and scrubbing action that GinZing offers.
The real test for a new product is evidenced by how long I am enamored by it for – I am pretty pleased to say GinZing has still has me super excited to pick it up and swish it on each and every time, and this is three weeks after purchasing with half the product gone, a rarity for my relationship with face wash.
Even more excitingly, the GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser is only the latest addition to the gorgeously fizzy and fun franchise of radiance boosting products from Origins – I’ll be quite excited to “add to cart” the other products in the line when my routine is in need of even more ‘zing.
